I’m Sophia Cariani and am a junior at South Fork High School. I started playing soccer at 6 years old and started playing competitively at 8. Soccer has been something that has been in my life for as long as I can remember and has always been something I dedicated part of my life to. Soccer is a commitment I made 11 years ago and have absolutely no regrets in doing so I am hoping to ride it out as far and as long as I can.
Although at times soccer gets tough it never outweighs the joy it has brought me at so many points over the years. Many clubs in my area do not have a 06 age group and it has been tough to find a team at times. The challenge of finding a team and dealing with an injury was a big block for me at one point, and I'm so glad that I've found a home team, and am back on the pitch and feel great.
Because of this, my entire mentality towards soccer has shifted and I no longer take soccer for granted as it is something I am so blessed to be able to play because you never know when it can be taken away due to an injury. I truly believe this is such a beneficial lesson to learn knowing that every time I step out on the field whether that be for practice or games I am there to better not only myself but also my team.
Currently, I am a dual-enrolled student on Track to graduate with my associate's degree in engineering. Then I will transfer to continue academics and hopefully athletic career to finish my bachelor's. Aside from staying on top of my academics and athletics with whatever free time to spare I like to stay busy and have picked up lots of new hobbies and sports along the way. I currently play golf but also enjoy the gym, lacrosse, and pickle-ball. Outside of sports, I like painting, baking, and spending time at the beach or out on the water
