I’m passionate about the game of soccer and aspire to play for a top-tier D1 soccer program at a high-level academic institution. As a competitive and dedicated multi-sport athlete, I have been lucky enough to compete at the national level in several different sports. In addition to soccer I am a passionate cross-country skier. I have won four national championships. Having these experiences as a skier has taught me how to thrive under the pressure that comes with participating in large-scale competitions with high stakes. These experiences will allow me to be an impactful player from the beginning of my college experience. In addition, the aerobic and anaerobic fitness, mental toughness, and body awareness that I gain from cross-country skiing improves my game and will ultimately allow me to have greater potential as a soccer player. That said, in order to compete at a high level in cross-country skiing I miss out on some soccer opportunities. I have to move from my home in Boise, Idaho to the much snowier town of Sun Valley, Idaho during the winter so my training is a product of self-motivation and a strong work ethic. The experiences I have had running varsity cross country and track, playing varsity soccer, playing in the ECNL, and being a high-level cross-country skier have taught me the importance of efficiency, focus, and drive. I understand the work that I need to put in athletically and academically to reach my goals and I have the motivation to do it. Both of my parents competed in D1 sports at top universities so I have a good understanding of what it will take to accomplish my goals. Being a multi-sport athlete also allows me always to be passionate and involved in the moment. I love competing, racing and pushing myself to my physical limits. I try to bring this mentality and spirit to every practice and game. One of the reasons that I am so passionate about soccer is the team-aspect of the sport. I have created many valuable friendships throughout my years as a soccer player and I hope to continue to be a part of a tight-knit team in the future. Academically, I am ranked number one in my class at Boise High with my unweighted GPA. My weighted GPA is lower only because I have been taking high school level math and science since seventh grade so the number of courses on my transcript relative to the number of AP courses has diluted my GPA. This will change as there are more opportunities to take AP classes in the future. In short, I am a highly motivated individual and I feel that I have the skill set, grit, and determination to be a top level soccer player at the collegiate level. I am a passionate student, a dedicated teammate, and have always been described as being highly coachable. I think I could be an excellent addition to a college program and appreciate your consideration.
