Personal Statement
Soccer has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. In elementary school I was the only girl playing soccer with the refugee boys before school and at recess. I have learned a lot about perseverance and having a positive work ethic though playing soccer and other sports. Many coaches have commented on my tenacity and continued drive for success. My AAU basketball team had the mantra of “Team First”. I learned how to dedicate everything to my team no matter if I was on the field or cheering from the bench and I work to inspire other people to bring their fire.
Playing soccer on a lot of different teams has taught me how to get along with different types of people. I changed schools at the start of high school and had to adapt to a new set of people and environment. My freshman year high school team lost in the quarterfinals. We had the best season in school history and thought that we would make it farther in the playoffs than we did. I realized that we can’t take anything for granted and next year we come out stronger and with more confidence. I really enjoy STEM classes and am interested in studying physical therapy. This is a good blend of my passion for sports as well as my interest in science.
