Personal Statement
My name is Olivia Miller and I am currently a junior at Sherwood High school in Sandy Spring, MD. I am very dedicated and passionate about soccer and would like to continue competing in college with an interest in pursuing a Nursing degree. My interest in healthcare comes from my parents (nurse and pharmacist) and they were also Division 1 athletes in soccer and track/cross country at Loyola University of Chicago.
I am a 3 sport Varsity athlete (soccer, indoor track and outdoor track) with soccer being my favorite. I have been a starter and key contributor for the Sherwood Varsity Soccer team for the past 2 seasons and was pulled up to Varsity in my freshman year. On my Sherwood team, I play Holding Mid. My Travel team is FCGB Center of Excellence 01 ( formerly know as OBGC Freedom, Orange) and my Coach is Jill Rutten. I have been playing on this team for the past 6 years. It is Jill's philosophy that we should be able to play all positions and she often rotates us throughout the game. I typically play left or right (sometimes center) defender but also play left or right midfield or even as a striker. My strengths are my speed, long ball and precision passing.
For track, as a sophomore, I was the Montgomery County 800 meter track outdoor champion and currently hold the Sherwood HS school record (2:21). I also competed at state in the 1600 and 3200 meter relay teams. (ran 60 second split for 400 meters).
