Personal Statement

I think I am a good candidate to be a student-athlete because I love being both a student and an athlete. In school, I have made the principal honor roll every year and I take AP, Honors, and IB classes. I take school very seriously and try to do the best work I can.  I love being surrounded by people and helping them any way I can. Something I'm very passionate about is teaching others and being the person to help make something become easier. These reasons are also why I like being an athlete. Being an athlete, I learn so much from others around me. This past year, 2019, I played on two teams, each at a very different level of competitiveness. On my lower competitive team, I felt like a leader because I was a higher level player that came to a division 3 team from a division 1 team going to state. Going into this team, I felt that I was going to lose all of my skills and that I made the worst decision. But I realized that me being on the team isn't just helping us win games, it is also helping me individually. Even though I was playing at a much lower level than I should be, it has grown me into a better player. The rate of soccer was much slower which gave me time to focus on things I needed to practice so when I played with my higher-level team, I was able to do these skills with ease. All in all, I think being a student-athlete is a very tough thing to do but I think I can accomplish this with my leadership, work ethic, flexibility, and determination skills. I would love to take part in becoming a women soccer player in college.
