Point guard as a basketball player, Setter on the volleyball team, and I still compete on the varsity golf team, but let me be very clear: we are a SOCCER family! It's in our DNA -- my grandpa played in Germany and is in the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame, my dad played at Clemson, and I'm running the midfield alongside my older sister on the high school squad this spring. Mom loves to watch us. We can't get enough!
I wear no. 5 because I've been told I play similarly to my favorite player, Sergio Busquets. I'm a playmaker that maintains possession, I'm strong on the ball, above average in the air, and short of scoring a goal, nothing gives me more satisfaction than weighting that perfect pass and delivering the "killer" through ball.
Perhaps the best way to communicate my approach to the game and how I think and play is through my two favorite soccer quotes...
Pele: "When you control the ball you control the score.”
Cruyff: “Playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is.”
Grandpa tells me I've got an above average soccer IQ -- that I "read" the game well -- and have a good first touch. I try to be a sponge soaking up everything I can when I'm watching a Barca or USWNT match with him or when I'm training with my coaches on my club and high school teams.
I also try to lead on and off the field and in and out of the classroom. I'm not really sure what I want to study in college. Maybe I'll pursue something in business or the health sciences. I do know I want to play in college and I also know I hate to lose more than I like to win. I'm just hoping to get the chance to continue my career playing the Beautiful Game for as long as I can. Who knows, maybe I'll even coach one day.
Favorite Food: pre-game spaghetti and meatballs (preferably at Gianfabio's)
Favorite Book: Harry Potter
Favorite Movie: The Hunger Games
Places I'd like to visit: Spain, France, and Brazil
Pet Peeve: Parents who scream at referees... have you ever changed the ref's mind?
I hope this gives you a sense for who I am today and paints you a picture of the student-athlete I aspire to become. I'll keep working hard and hoping for the best!
Thank you for taking an interest in me.
