Hello! My name is Abigail Wathen and I am fifteen years old, a sophomore at The Epiphany School of Global Studies. Soccer has always been a huge passion of mine and I always wanted to continue it when my high-school career ended. I have always loved marine life and animals, and like to study them at home which makes me want to study marine biology or zoology. Going along with the science category, taking care of the environment has always been a huge thing for me. Whenever I go scuba diving I pick up trash as well as on the jet ski or boat I’m helping clean up the ocean. As a goalkeeper, I tend to get hurt while making blocks or rushing the ball, so I had to learn how to take care of myself and others. Sports medicine is an opportunity for me to practice something I am good at and stay close to the fields. What makes me a good candidate for the team is I'm a very optimistic and supporting player. I have lost many games and have had many goals scored on me, while remaining with a positive attitude that this will help us learn and be better for next time. I am also not afraid to get down on the ground and do whatever it takes to keep the ball out of the net. Another thing that makes me different is that I'm an all around player. I get many compliments from being a versatile goalkeeper that is skilled with her feet. In my eighth grader year on the Varsity soccer I scored six goals and had 10 assists, and in ninth grade I had one goal and seven assists. I have played and started at all eleven positions. What makes me different from other players is that I am always around the sport. At school, I help out with the guys soccer team, I am also a referee for my local club spending hours at the field watching and helping younger players enjoy and have fun with the sport. As well as being a referee I am also an assistant coach for my local club's 2013-2014 girls soccer team. I know that my profile says I am not that competitive, but please know that I am one of the most competitive people you will ever meet.
