My name is Jessica Short; I am 17 years old, and interested in furthering my soccer career throughout my years at university or college.
Currently I play for the 1996 Aurora Stingers in the Ontario second level of play. Before Aurora I played for my local club, South Simcoe United as well as the 1996 Barrie team. I am naturally left footed but also play with my right. Left outside midfield is my preferred position however, due to some injuries on my team I was asked to fill in as a striker scoring 4 goals, left back, and center back for half the season. My ability to play a number of positions is an asset to my coaches and I am happy to play where the team needs me.
Currently I attend Banting Memorial High School in Alliston, Ontario. I have been a member of the Cross Country team for the past four years, I was on the Cross Country Ski Team for the past two years, the Track and Field team competing in the 1500m steeplechase and the 3000m run and of course the Soccer team each year earning the MVP in my sophomore year scoring some critical goals in a championship season for the team.
I am in grade 12 this year and am working hard to keep my GPA high. I have spent a lot of time in the past two years thinking about what I would like to study throughout my University or Collage career, and have decided on Psychology. Having taken the Anthropology class in grade 11 finishing with an 85% mark I enjoyed the psychology unit the most and have taken the next class 'Challenge and Change' next semester.
As a soccer player, my main assets are; speed with the ball, endurance, my left foot, my ability to see the game, as well my talent to create plays and score goals. I am a team player and can play a number of positions effectively and will continue playing soccer for years to come.
