Ava Reid '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi Coach! My name is Ava Reid, and I am a 2023 graduate currently playing for the Burlington Force 2005/2006 Girls. I am a forward with a nose for goal, great finishing ability and play - making ability, tremendous work ethic, and a strong passion for the game. I played as an underage player for five years before joining Hamilton United to play in the Ontario Player Development League, where I was the leading scorer on my team two out of three seasons (third season cancelled due to Covid-19). I have also been selected to attend the Ontario Soccer Provincial Screening Competition on two occasions. I am now playing with the Burlington Force 05/06 Girls, continuing to push myself and elevate my game to the next level.

I am a well rounded athlete and have competed in a multitude of sports growing up, including track, cross country, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and field hockey. My greatest passion of all, however, is soccer. I am self - motivated, and love to compete. Whether it is on the pitch or in the classroom, I always give it my all. My academics are extremely important to me, and I currently have a 4.0 GPA. In the past, I have been the recipient of the Excellence in Education Award, the English Award, scholars, as well as honours.

I am interested in attending a school that will challenge me both athletically and academically, that also has a great culture. I believe that I could contribute to the success of the team, excel in the classroom, and forge bonds with my coaches and teammates.

“I have had the privilege of coaching Ava Reid for approximately four years and she is the type of player that coaches truly enjoy working with. Ava has many plaudits among which are punctuality, strong commitment, and a very respectful outlook towards her fellow players and above all her coaches.

Due to her ability to “read” the game, Ava can play any forward position and is  also very strong in the attacking midfield position. She can score goals from distance or inside the penalty area  with either foot. Her excellent speed gets her into good scoring positions. She is also not afraid to put her head on the ball.

“Ava Reid was a prominent member of my Hamilton United OPDL team as a u14 and u15 player. She was a predator in front of the goal and acted as an excellent target person for her teammates. Ava displayed great speed and strength. Her training attitude was top notch. She actively participated in the home training sessions during the COVID 19 shut down. Ava was identified to attend the Ontario Soccer ID tryouts. I believe Ava has much promise in developing into an excellent player.”
