Kellyn Nelson '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kellyn Nelson. I am 5'6" and weigh 128 pounds. I am passionate about soccer. I have played soccer from the age of 6 and joined a club at 8 years old. I feel that I am easy to coach, take constructive criticism well, and work hard to improve in areas my coach feels necessary. I work well with my teammates & I can lead and create plays with a sense of balance and control throughout the team when we are at play. I received FC Willamette club's highest honor in 2009 (Coaches Award) for the attributes I bring to our team on and off the field. In the spring and summer of 2009, I played with the Lake Oswego Storm team to increase my competitive play time, and I quickly acclimated well with the team. I joined the team the Fall of '09 and became a starting player. I am a dedicated player traveling 90 minutes each way 3-4 times a week. I continue to work hard to optimize my training, so I can reach my fullest potential. In May of 2010, I was named to the top 20 players in the Northwest by Topdrawersoccer.com for the class of 2012 and continue to remain on the list. I have played on my HS varsity soccer team since my freshman year. In my sophomore year, I was named 2nd Team All Conference, and now in my junior year, I have been named to 1st Team All Conference, and voted MVP. I have been named team captain for my senior year. My goal is to play Div. I or II collegiate soccer and play in the western region of the United States, yet I remain open to other opportunities. My preference is to attend a school of at least 5000 undergrad students and I have yet to decide on what I want to study in college. I hope to be a player that contributes to the team by my sophomore year if not sooner! I value my education and take my studies very seriously. I am a strong student with a high grade point average (3.93). I am able to balance my studies with my outside activities including club and high school soccer, and 4-H, where I raise and show pigs and steers. I have a desire to excel in all that I do, so I can have the opportunity to achieve my goals in school, sport, career, and family life. Soccer continues to teach me about myself and what I can do with my life. I hope someday to give back to the sport that has given me so much.
