Sports have always been present in my life for as long I can remember. I have been playing soccer for nearly 12 years and competitively for 9 years in the position of a goalkeeper. When I first started competitive soccer my team was very inexperienced and we lost games frequently. Little did I know that those 2-3 years of losing was helping me grow immensely in my skills. When I was 11 I was offered a spot on a U13 team and I gladly took the position and was apart of the team until I was 14. When I turned 14, I was then offered a spot on a U15 premier team and have been playing with that team since. I am extremely competitive in all sports I participate in and with sports I watch on television, which I have to give thanks for my Latino family who are very passionate about soccer and who have influenced me greatly in a positive way. Nick Rimando has inspired me to become a better player as I have always looked up to him and eventually was able to train with him and taken his advice to progress as a goalkeeper. I frequently watch videos of him and attempt to learn from him as he plays.
I always set high expectations for myself in sports and education and I try to achieve my goals the best I can. I have participated in several large tournaments like the Schwan's USA Cup representing Utah, Utah Youth Soccer State League finalist, Utah Summer Games, and the Vegas Cup Showcase, to name a few. I have participated in other sports such as outdoor track and volleyball. I am currently playing volleyball competitively and have been for the past 5 years as well as playing on my high school volleyball team as the varsity libero. I have been chosen to be team captain my 9th, 10th, and 11th grade year.
I believe my education is essential and extremely important and I plan to continue my schooling after high school in the field of Illustration/Fine Arts. I practice my sports skills weekly: going to usual team practice, going to the gym or court with parents and friends, and practicing techniques on my own. I strive to do well in school, taking several AP and concurrent enrollment classes, and plan to study efficiently for my upcoming ACT tests. I look forward to my future and what is awaits for me.
