Personal Statement

I try to not focus on where the ball is, I like to focus on where the ball is going to be. This is also how I try to live my life. Decisions I make need to benefit me in the short run, but also in the long run. If I pay all of my attention to the "right-now" of my life, then my future would be clueless and I would have no idea what my goals are. I focus on decisions that will impact me for the rest of my life. Yes, I have made mistakes, and I have learned from them. This surely has gotten me to be the hard working person I am today.

I have  dreams and goals, and I have achieved many of them, like making varsity as a freshman, or making Vermont ODP, but I am also looking to meet my other goals I have set for the future. When I achieve  a goal, I feel so accomplished and feel that I am going somewhere. One of my biggest aspirations is to play college soccer. Many times when I was a little girl, I would accompany my father to women's college soccer games. I was fascinated by how the ball moved effortlessly between players. The girls had a connection that was between more than their foot and the ball. They were part of something more, something stronger, an unbreakable bond...a team. They knew each others strengths and weaknesses. I have dreamed to continue for my love of the game and team conncection by stepping on college field with girls who I know have my back through thick and thin. This is what I am working for.

Another goal of mine is to always work as hard as I can, because somewhere on the field, there is another girl who is  faster, stronger, and more skilled. It is all about the determination to be better than that person. Every day before practice, in every sport I participate in, I set goals that pertain to the practice we are having. In warmups for soccer,  I see how many more juggles I can get than the day before. When we pass, I see how many more accurate passes I can make than the time before. Shooting is the same...more balls in the back of the net. This helps me establish a base for the game. As hard as you work in practice is as hard as you will work in a game. I play each day like it is my last on the field. When I lace up my cleats and play as hard as I can, I walk off the field with no regrets.

I will going to Germany during the summer, and one of my goals while I am there is to play soccer. It is so interesting how other cultures can come together over a game. Soccer is a tie that brings many different cultures together, and I want to expirience that first hand.

My last goal that I am going to write about is my future with a job and a good income. College is very important to me. I want a future where I can be benefitted for a long time. I want to be able to travel around the world, and visit my family in Germany. I want to be able to be somewhere I want to be in every day, and not a job that I have to be in.

These are only a few of my numerous goals, and if I were to write about all of them, I could write a book. I have passion, and I like to live with no regrets.
