Hi, I’m Caitlyn Riggs!
I’ve been playing soccer for as long as I can remember, at least since I was four years old. I have also played others sports like basketball, volleyball, and track. While I have enjoyed playing a variety of sports growing up; a few years ago, I switched my focus to just soccer and strength training. That switch has allowed me to fine tune the details of my game and focus on what is important to me.
I have been blessed to grow up in a soccer family and within a soccer community. Soccer has provided opportunities and experiences that I will forever cherish. Soccer has allowed me to travel, make friends and grow outside of my comfort zone. Soccer has also taught me about competition, hard work, being a good teammate and perseverance.
About five years ago I had a defining moment in my soccer life. After a poor showing and a lack of urgency in a club tryout, I made the second team. While this may not sound like a big deal, it was devastating for me. However, it fueled me to get better. Within a year after that tryout, after hard work and dedication, I have made the highest level of club soccer in Washington (ECNL), the WPL Surf Academy, Washington State EPD and High School Varsity as a Freshman. While these accomplishments have been rewarding, they are just the beginning for me as I push myself to get better every day.
As of today, I have three primary goals. From an athletic perspective, I want to be the first in my family to play soccer at the college level. From a career perspective, I want to get a bachelor’s degree that allows me to live out my passions after soccer. And finally, I strive every day to be better than I was yesterday. A combination of these three goals makes me who I am today.
