My name is Melia Cordero and I have been playing soccer for 12 years. I have played in many positions including midfield (left, center attacking, right) and outside back. I have always loved playing soccer and played at a premiere level since I was 9 years old. I have played on top level club teams, Development Academy and now ECNL. I have also been to National Training Camps and was invited to Regional Training Camps. In additional to club teams, I also played on the WA ODP team for a few years and helped win the Region IV Championship in Jan 2018. I am a starter for both my high school varsity team as well as my ECNL team. My playing experience also includes many international matches. I traveled to Sweden to compete in the Lennart Johansson Academy Trophy tournament and to Madrid and Barcelona to play against Spain's top teams.
During this pandemic, it has been pretty hard to get out and play soccer. When I have been stuck at home, I would go across the street to a school track and would run to keep my endurance up and would also work on some drills my coach would email out. I also enjoyed doing some Zoom yoga classes. Now that we are able to train in small groups, I am training 3 days a week with my team, 1 day a week at Toca, 1 day a week private training sessions. My goal is be at my personal best by the time games can resume.
I would like to study biology in college and have interest in sports medicine or dermatology. I currently have a 3.95 GPA and feel confident I can maintain a great GPA.
