Valeria Tonix '25 Recruiting Profile

I have been in competitive swimming since I was very young. I originally learned to swim to have it as a life skill, but it turned into much more of a passion to compete and win. I am a hardworking and disciplined athlete. I always try to find ways to get faster to separate myself from the rest. I show up to practice and put in the effort because I want to be successful. Last season, I was selected to participate and compete at an open water distance camp in Mallorca, Spain. I trained with some of the best distance swimmers in Canada and competed in the 5k, 1.5k and 7k races against over 100 swimmers from all across Europe. I am an A student as I dedicate myself to doing efficient school work and studying well for tests. I recently became a certified swim coach for younger kids who are learning how to swim. I enjoy helping young swimmers get comfortable in the water and work their way up to the competitive level, just like my other coaches helped me do the same.
