Hi my name is Michelle Hecker and I am a student athlete. I have attended Gorman Learning Center an independent/ homeschool program since 2009. This program allows me to take high school classes at the learning center as well as classes at the local community college. I started swimming at the age of three mostly because my sister swam and I wanted to show my parent I was just as good as her. Nonetheless It wasn't until I was thirteen that I really wanted to compete and get faster, but it hasn't always been painless. Between swimming 6 days per week, homework and going to physical therapy for injuries a swimmers life can be hectic. However, I never give in, and I always make a point to show up to every practice even if it means just kicking or doing dryland that day. I'm proud of my efforts in swimming; at the 2017 Summer Junior Olympics I achieved a sectional bonus cut in the 50 free. Now heading into college my goals are to continue to develop as a student and a swimmer. What I can offer your school is a dedicated athlete, and determined student. I am a girl who is ready and willing to push herself as well as everyone else around her!
