Stephanie Rosenthal '16 Recruiting Profile

I began my swimming career, on a club team, at 6 years of age, and knew this was the only sport for me. I took an immediate affinity to breaststroke, winning several medals amongst my age group. The more I swam, the more I strived to go faster. This prompted me to start watching videos of world class swimmers in order to study technique and apply it to my own swimming. As I improved, I switched to more competitive teams, always pushing myself to do the best I could do. After taking time off in 8th grade for corrective leg surgery, I realized how big of a role swimming played in my life. It was a long recovery and my times suffered, but I worked through it and am now better than ever and continue to improve. I cannot imagine a world without swimming, and know that collegiate swimming will fulfill this aspiration.

    My work ethic applies not only to the pool but also in my academic endeavors. I choose challenging and rigorous courses, while also maintaining an above average GPA, placing me on the honor roll every semester and earning me the title of scholar athlete.

Last summer, working as the Head Coach for the Golf Club of Avon Swim Team, I gained valuable experience in running and leading a team. As I worked with others, I assessed my own skills and experience to enhances the team. Through this process, i was able to help my own swimming techniques.
