Hello,
My name is Sarah Cossman, and I am a rising senior at Champaign Central High School. I swim for the girls high school team. I fell in love with swimming in middle school, and I would love to be able to continue swimming through my years in college. I believe swimming is an amazing sport that can lead to lifelong health. While swimming has been a big part of my life for years, I also take my education very seriously. I am a member of the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society, and the National Math Honor society, and my current un-weighted GPA is 3.857. Additionally, the club Leaders Make Leaders at school has taught me valuable lessons about being a team player and role model, especially in a relatively individual sport such as swimming.
I believe that I would be a good candidate for a collegiate swim program because of my outstanding work ethic, I believe there's never a pool too cold, and it's never too early to jump in. I believe I have shown myself to be a team leader on multiple occasions, from being the first in the pool, to motivating teammates. As someone who has demonstrated leadership ability, I understand that before you can lead, you often need to follow. I believe that the transition from high school to college will provide me with that valuable learning experience.
I recognize that with a strong pool of candidates, not a lot might set me apart. I believe my strongest quality is my work ethic, and that means I am willing to do what it takes to get the job done. I am reliable, and this makes me valuable as a recruit.
Thank you for considering me for your swim program, I believe that I would make a good addition to any team. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Sarah Cossman
