Personal Statement
I have always been an athlete. I was a competitive gymnast for 7 years and had several state champion awards and top 100 scores. I had to quit gymnastics because I injured my back and the doctors said the only sport I could do right away was swimming. I decided to give it a go and have been in love since. Two years ago I began swimming competitively, the transition has been very rewarding. Some of the highlights of the last two years and what I am most proud of is making it to USA State for the 100 yard back stroke after my first short course season. I have qualified for 5 regional events and placed 2nd in the 50 free, 3rd in the 200 back, 4th in the 100 free, and 2nd in the 100 back qualifying for state.
I am a very hard worker and I have been told I am very coachable. I look forward to swimming on a team that I can continue to grow and learn more as a swimmer.
I have a 3.9 non weighted GPA and a 4.3 weighted GPA and I am ranked in the top 5% of my class of over 800. Outside of swimming I am a part of National honor society, mission trips, FMSC and volunteer wherever else I can. My biggest collegiate goal is to get a good education while also having fun and improving as a swimmer.
