January 2024Personal Statement
My name is Asha Seymour. I am an 8th Grade student at The Heuristic Academy in Nassau, Bahamas. This is my 2nd year of swimming and I am enjoying learning about and growing in this sport. Summer of 2022 my mum enrolled my brother and I in the Learn To Swim program with Barracuda Swim Club. By the October of that year the coaches asked to test me for competitive swimming and here I am today. I qualified for 6 events at Nationals in the most competitive age group in Bahamas Swimming (11-12) where I got my first feel for real swim competition in June 2023. For the 2022-2023 swim season I won the coveted Coaches Award in my club.
In July 2023, I was a part of the swim team representing Columbus Isle at The Bahamas Games Competition which was one of the celebratory events for our country's 50th Independence.
I am looking forward to many more competitions and to see my growth in this sport that has so far challenged and surprised me.

- Second year swimming competitively. Leapfrogged a couple groups and ended the season in the top group of the club (Flying Fish). National qualifier again.

- First season swimming competitively after completing learn to swim in the summer. Qualified for 6 event at Nationals, June 2023.
