Salve! My name is Jailey Baez, and I’ve been swimming since I was 5 years old. I’ve been competing at the club level since I was 9, and I’m currently part of the Class of 2026 at Boston Latin Academy. I’ve been on my high school’s varsity team since my freshman year, as well as my club team. I specialize in sprint breaststroke and freestyle, but I also enjoy the challenge that distance events bring. I’m a very team-focused swimmer — I always push my teammates during practice and try to motivate them both in and out of the water. Even on the tough days, I make it a point to cheer people up and make sure everyone is giving 100%.
In the classroom, I strive to do my best even when things are challenging. Ever since I was little, I’ve dreamed of studying Marine Biology and Oceanography — I’m passionate about the ocean and want to turn that into a career. This summer, I’m excited to take that passion further through a study abroad program in Australia, where I’ll gain hands-on experience exploring marine ecosystems, which will provide valuable insight into my future career.
