Personal Statement
Swimming is my passion. I started swimming in our backyard pool as a toddler in Alabama and progressed to competitive swimming through the YMCA in Washington and at the Brainerd High School in Minnesota. My family's military lifestyle of moving around the country on several assignments during my elementary and junior high school years have helped me to become very adaptive, motivated, flexible and agile. I excel rapidly in both academics and athletics, and I merge well into new teams and environments. I seek challenges in both individual and team competitions. I've established a baseline of competitive swimming experiences through nearly three years of YMCA swimming in Washington, and I achieved notable milestones in both the Washington State YMCA Swimming Championships and the Pacific Northwest Regional Swimming Championships in 2014 and 2015. I brought that spirit and team-oriented mindset to my most recent home at the Brainerd High School when my father retired from the Army. I excelled on the varsity girls swimming team since arriving in my freshman year in 2016, advanced to the 8AA Section finals in my first year, and advanced to the State meets in both my sophomore and junior years. My teams and coaches have collective shaped me into the athlete I am today, and I know in my heart that I have the drive and fortitude to achieve much greater milestones. Once I set my mind to accomplishing something, no goal is too far. I always put my team first and will help them win.
