Hello, I am Megan Durrua, a 5'3 sophomore swimmer from Point Pleasant Beach, NJ with a 3.7
GPA. I made my high schools varsity swim team my freshman year and I have absolutely
enjoyed the experience. The team has an amazing atmosphere and we have collectively
supported each other in everyone's accomplishments -- from the small ones to the major ones,
we are with one another through it all. The captains of our team have made the underclassmen
feel so welcome and I plan to return the favor when I am a senior.
I am hard working and always eager to jump in the pool, even for the early morning
practices. Last year we won the New Jersey Central B Title, Group Central B Division Title,
placed 3rd in Monmouth County Championship, and placed 2nd in the Shore Conference
championship.
I began club swimming at the junior level when I was in 7th grade. This year I was moved up to
the senior level. Becoming a senior club swimmer was challenging at first, with harder, longer,
and more intense practices. But that has ultimately resulted in my swimming improving. My
best events are the 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, and the 200 IM. In the fall, our team traveled
to The Icebreaker Invitational in Virginia for a meet. There, I swam the 500 Free and the 200
Free. I placed 5th overall in the 500 Free and made it to finals in the 200 Free. This was my first
experience making finals, it was fulfilling to see my training pay off
I am interested in a college that is located in the eastern region of the country. Preferably, I am
looking towards a small school with a rigorous academic program. I intend to major in
homeland security.
