My name is Emma, and I am Junior at T. C. Roberson High School in Asheville, North Carolina. I am a sprint freestyler. Growing up, a challenge shaped my journey as a swimmer. I was born with fibular hemimelia, a congenital condition that affected my legs, leading to multiple surgeries and a long road to recovery. However, despite the struggles that this experience posed, I committed myself to training harder in the pool and growing stronger each year. I currently swim with the WNCY Piranhas, practicing six to seven times a week and weight training three times a week. Additionally I was just named to the 2025 USA Paralympic Swimming National Team, having placed 2nd in the 100 freestyle at USA Para Swimming Nationals in December in Orlando, Florida. This year I plan to compete in the World Para Series of swimming. On top of swimming, I am highly dedicated to my academics. I am #1 in my class with a 4.68 GPA and a love for environmental science and engineering. As the head swim coach to a middle school girls swim team, as well as a youth summer swim league, I have had the incredible opportunity to share my love for the water and instill the values of resilience, discipline, and community that I have developed through the sport unto my young swimmers. Throughout my journey, swimming has become more than a sport; it has been my source of strength, resilience, and connection with others.
Swimming has become one of the most important aspects of my life and I am looking forward to all that lies ahead and to the potential of furthering my love for the sport at the collegiate level. Thank you for considering my profile!
