My name is Piper Hire, I'm in the graduating class of 2026 and I have been swimming for 6 years. Swimming, and being in the water has always been a part of my life but competitive swimming is my main passion. Growing up I loved jumping in lakes, rivers and the ocean. Every vacation we took, I would jump in the closest water no matter how cold it was. When I was younger I tried a lot of different sports but none of them stuck like swimming did. I loved the feeling of jumping in the water and pushing myself for a goal of just self improvement. Swimming in college has been a dream of mine since I was younger and I can't wait to make that dream a reality. My athletic goal in college is to continue to get better and compete at a national level. I want to push myself physically and mentally and collegiate swimming is a wonderful opportunity to do so. Just in the last year I have won three Oregon top five awards in the 1500, 800, and 400 free. While being very athletic, I am also a very academically focused person. I am in the 93d percentile with my GPA and have participated in honors classes, advanced science and history classes. I also tutored my peers in Spanish, math, and science. In college I want to pursue a major in biology so I can attend medical school.
