Meredith Gayanilo...Personal Statement
I, Meredith Gayanilo, live in Corpus Christi, TX, and will be a senior at Flour Bluff High School this fall. I have been swimming for 8 years, and before joining the high school varsity team in 2021, I was swimming with a USA Swimming-recognized swim club in the region. My favorite events, which have remained the same until now, are breaststroke, butterfly, and IM.
I want to major in Environmental Science or Marine Biology in college, and if resources are available, continue my studies and complete Environmental Law. Working for a double major in Music or engaging in accelerated programs are options I will consider when available. I can play other instruments, such as piano and marimba, but the violin remains my primary. I serve as the Student Council President, Class President, Science National Honor Society Vice-President, Team Captain for the Texas University Interscholastic League Journalism Team, Percussion Section Leader, and a Flour Bluff High School Leadership Team representative. I have received several accolades, and most recently, I am proud to be named the 2025 Distinguished Young Woman of Nueces County with an eye to represent the state.
