Personal Statement

When I was a child and someone would ask me what I dreamed of being, my answer never stopped changing. I wanted to be a princess or a famous actress, and then I started to recognize and understand reality, my answer shifted towards becoming a veterinarian or a nurse. Now that I’m entering the real world I try to have something a little more realistic. Even though I’m only going to be a sophomore in high school time will fly by, and then I’ll be lost not knowing what I want to do. My dreams have altered so much from when I was younger. For as long as I can remember I’ve been an avid animal lover and always wanted to be a vet to help animals in their time of need. That changed as soon as I saw real animal blood; pathetic, I know. At the same time I wanted to be a vet, I was also thinking about becoming a pro tennis player, considering that I’ve been playing since I was six years old. Tennis was a part of me, and it was something I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. Then I turned 11, and what do you know? I wanted to be a fashion designer. Clothes and style became my life and have been a big part of my life since then. Of course my fashion sense has evolved so much, but everyone knows me now as Teah, the girl with long hair and great style! Considering that I’ve never had any artistic talent whatsoever, I would much rather go into Fashion Merchandising because I would get to travel, buy, sell, and be in the forefront of fashion. Which brings me to my next point: Business. Business could give me the traveling I so desire, the buying and selling I enjoy, and then I could always minor in fashion. Possibly I could get a double major which I would definitely love working towards. The one problem I have always faced with my aspirations and goals is that if something new enters my life I seem to not want to stray away from that, and I want to live in the moment. I always told myself that it wasn’t smart to do that because I would let it go, even though I knew I would want it back soon enough; and of course I learned the hard way, more than several times. That’s just part of it. Whatever your goals or dreams are in life, you’re going to face speed bumps and we’re always going to want to back out, but as much as we want to, we can’t. In the long run, you will always be glad that you persevered during those times. You don’t have to deal with it when you have conquered it. Certainly not for good, because no matter what you do or how you do it there will be complications. Having faith in yourself and determination, you acquire the strength to overcome anything you want to, and that is what I dream about, simply the “Journey” yet knowing full well that my love for tennis and fashion will never change.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
