My name is Mia Thiele, I am a rising sophomore, and I have been playing tennis since I was 6 years old. While I was playing USTA tournaments since age 9, I have only recently discovered my true passion for tennis. It happened when I had an amazing year as a freshman on the Canyon Crest Academy girls varsity team and was fortunate to win the CIF Open Division Championship. We had an amazing run all the way to the state final. It was the first time in my life that I experienced tennis as a team sport. The comradery and team spirit truly inspired me and made me realize how fortunate I am to have had amazing coaches throughout my life preparing me for a sport that I can play on a team in college. My varsity coach always praised me not only for my tennis form and athleticism, but also for my ability to connect with every single person on the team and my important role as a team leader, despite my young age. A recent evaluation with a professional college counselor opened my eyes, that it is possible to combine both my dreams, to attend an academically amazing college, and play collegiate tennis. Ever since, I fully committed myself to improving my game on an athletic, mental, and strategic level. Therefore, I switched high schools to find a better balance allowing me to achieve both, maintaining academic excellence, and improving the depth and rigor of my athletic training schedule during my sophomore year.
My dream is to unlock my full potential, both academically and athletically, and I am 100% committed to give my all to be considered a worthy candidate for an amazing college, that gives me the opportunity to achieve both.
