My name is Ainzley Zulueta and I am currently entering my junior year at Hayden Catholic High School in Topeka, Kansas. I have been playing tennis competitively for the past 8 years and I am hoping to continue my tennis journey in college as well. During my freshman and sophomore year, I played at the varsity level. For my team, I was a leader through example rather than by voice, and I feel that one of my greatest strengths is my attitude. On court, I tend to be level-headed and calm, but that does not mean I am afraid to voice encouragement and support for my teammates at anytime. I will never let my emotions affect the team negatively.
This past semester I decided to intensify my training by attending a year-round tennis academy in John Newcombe Tennis Academy at New Braunfels, Texas. At this academy I gained the strengths of discipline and independence. I experienced how to live away from home and care for myself without the help of my parents being by my side. Additionally, I improved in my time management as my schedule consisted of fitness, drills, match play, gym, and school every day. Although it was difficult, I feel I have matured greatly from my experience there.
I work even harder when it comes to my academics. I believe another strength of mine is my communication skills. Even if I am short on time, I will always communicate with my teachers and find a way to get my studies done in a satisfactory way. Additionally, these past two years in high school, I have been able to uphold a GPA above 4.0 each year. School is very important to me and I am hoping to attend a college with a great and diverse field in healthcare.
