I am a 5’7”-125 lb. senior (Class 2014.) 3 year Team Captain. Play an all-court game. Clocked 97 mph first serve. My freshman, sophomore and junior years I played Varsity at both #1 Singles and #1 Doubles at Volcano Vista H.S. in Albuquerque, N.M (5A-enrollment approx. 3,200). Freshman and Junior years District Doubles Champions and advanced to State. Sophomore year District Singles Finalist (6-1, 6-7 retired Flu), advanced to State.
In club competition, after Freshman year, during the summer session, I went undefeated in singles (5-0). After Sophomore year played on New Mexico Advanced 18 year old team, team advanced to Sectionals in Arizona. This past summer I taught tennis for the City of Albuquerque. My current semester GPA is 4.0 and I have been on the Honor Roll every semester.
Playing tennis at the intercollegiate level has always been a dream of mine. To keep in shape I have private lessons on court for a minimum of 5 hrs. a week. When not on court I jump rope, follow a tennis specific medicine ball program and also workout to a tennis conditioning program by Pat Etcheberry.
I am looking for a university of any division with a “college town” atmosphere. I want to play for a competitive team, where I would have an immediate impact. I am coachable. I will bring to a team a fun loving attitude. I practice hard. I strive for excellence. And I play to win.
I am looking for a school that would provide me with a strong undergraduate foundation to prepare me for Post-Graduate Studies in Wildlife Biology, Wildlife Rehabilitation, Zoology or Veterinary Science. Financial assistance will be extremely important to me in the college selection process as both my brother and I will be in college at the same time and my family will have high need.
