Personal Statement
My name is Julia Winer and I attend Carle Place High School in New York on Long Island. I am in my senior year of high school and am apart of the graduating class of 2019. I was the captain of my varsity tennis team during my junior year and senior year. I obtained the role of second singles during my sophomore year and first singles for my junior and senior year. I play occasionally at Robbie Wagner's Tournament Training Center, located in Glen Cove, New York.
I have been playing tennis since 9th grade and have grown a love for the sport. I began playing at a sleepaway camp and soon thereafter, joined the varsity tennis team at my school, achieving 3rd doubles. In the spring of 2016 I began playing at Robbie Wagner's Tournament Training Center and by the fall of 2016, I received the role of second singles on my varsity tennis team. I continued to play tennis at Robbie Wagner's during my offseason and by the fall of 2017 I was first singles of my varsity tennis team and achieved the role of a captain as well. I am currently the captain of my varsity tennis team and am positioned at first singles. My team finished off its season placing second in our conference. I am currently in the process of becoming a USTA player.
I have a natural inclination for this sport and reached the level of a first singles player in only 2 years and have continued to do so. My love for this sport has allowed me to put in a great amount of time to help me reach the level I am at today. The fact that I have reached my current level in such a short amount of time, I believe that I can reach an even higher level in the years to come.
I am interested in majoring in the business field and minor in theatre. I am currently the treasurer of the DECA club at my school and have been enrolled in multiple business courses at my school. I also currently obtain the role of Class President, the Treasurer of Key Club, and the Treasurer of the National Honor Society. Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in multiple honors, accelerated, SUPA and AP courses, while participating in multiple clubs and varsity sports.
