.My name is Genevieve Hercule, and I am a junior at Saint Mary's Hall in San Antonio, Texas. Ever since I was between the ages of five and eight, I had a strong desire to become a veterinarian. My love for animals has always been intense, and it is what piqued my interest in veterinary medicine at that stage of adolescence. Also, photography was another passion of mine, and I enjoyed taking pictures of the moon, sunsets, and everyday plants. I am fascinated by nature and all its wonders.
Although I am not yet sure what field I want to major in, I am certain that I want to go to college after graduating from high school to study hard and also play tennis competitively. I am involved in various clubs both in school and in my community in hopes of discovering my true passion. I am particularly interested in public service (not sure in what area of public service as of yet) and hope to develop the awareness and confidence needed to become a leader in this field.
Aside from academics, playing tennis is my other passion. I have been playing since 4th grade and have consistently excelled with continuous training. My goal is to play competitive tennis in college and become the best athlete I can be. I take great pride in playing tennis and improving daily, and I believe in the dedication and commitment it takes to improve one's craft. I welcome constructive criticism as it enables me to grow both physically and mentally as a player.
I practice with my private coach four times a week during the off-season from school. I am determined, disciplined, and a hard worker, and I have excellent time management skills that allow me to multitask effectively under pressure. Over the past year, I have competed in more tournaments, gained tremendous confidence and self-awareness, and have grown significantly as an athlete. Although I played volleyball during my freshman year, I chose to focus solely on tennis to get stronger and master my skills at a competitive level.
I train during the summer with two coaches: my tennis coach and a fitness coach. I intend to continue doing this until I surpass my current level and am good enough to play competitive college tennis. My aunt, who played a sport in college, always told me that to get to where I want to be, I have to put in time, effort, and hard work because many other athletes are competing for the same spot. I am grateful to her, my mom, and my dad for their unwavering support.
Female athletes like Marie Ferdinand-Harris, Serena Williams, Coco Gauff, Venus Williams, Jessica Pegula, Naomi Osaka, and Slone Stephens inspire me to be the best athlete I can be.
