Personal Statement
I believe I’m a good candidate for your team as I am a hard worker, I love competing and take track seriously. The last two years I have been lucky to participate at Simplot Games, experience the energy associated with a large US meet at a college stadium, and I have been able to elevate my performance in this setting.
My favorite event is now hurdles. I raced the 60 m hurdles for the first time at the 2020 Indoor Provincial Championships and won the Gold medal. My time placed me 10th in Canada despite trying if for the first time. I also compete in sprints with the 200 m being my fastest race but I also compete the 60 m, 100 m and the occasional 400 m. I am currently ranked first for age group in my province at 60m, 60mH and 200m indoor.
I was very disappointed about the cancellation of the outdoor 2020 season but I have kept training and have lowered my 60 m hurdle time to 8.89 sec. thus far. (handheld timing). My time trial for 100 m was lowered to 12.1 sec (handheld).
Prior to competing in track and field, I was an elite Canadian gymnast and competed nationally and internationally. Looking ahead to university/college, I am interested in studying criminology or psychology. I attend a self-directed high school where I function independently and love learning on my own. My grades have been steadily improving each year in high school.
