Personal Statement

My Name is Miracle Johnson . I am currently a Junior at Dorsey High School. I am a Women’s Shotputter . I also play basketball and softball .

Track & Field was my first sport . I was  running track before I came upon shotput . At the age of 9 I became  very interested in shot put . At all the track meets I would always want to watch the older kids compete In it . Everyone has always said that I was naturally strong and I knew that you needed to have some type of strength to participate in this event so the next season right after that is when I started my journey in becoming a great shotputter .

A lot of things have influenced who I am today , from the things I see in my community to knowing how successful people in my family are . One of my main influences is my aunt Gwen Gardner . She also ran track and become very successful in duration of her track career . She made the 1981 olympic team for her great 400m run .  Unfortunately that was the year the games got boycotted so she was not able to compete but she is still apart of track & field history . So i forsure follow in her footsteps in on an Olympic team. She was  a great athlete but she always helps me see the good through the bad . She motivates me with everything that I do .

I have been a shotputter for about 5 years now and it has definitely taught me a lot about myself . This sport has taught me things that I probably wouldn’t have learned if I wasn’t participating in it . It has taught me that I can do whatever I want to do as long as I work hard and stay dedicated . I have learned to push myself and not to rely on anyone else because unlike the other sports I play those are team sports so it’s not individual  . You and your team have to work together to win.

I have always been a good student in school . Getting good grades and being loved by my teachers . I have always wanted to be a 4.0 student but I have always fell short of it . So my goal for high school is to gain a 4.0 GPA while playing sports and participating in any other extra curricular activities . I would also like to come close if not break Michelle Carters high school record .  In college I would also like to maintain my grades and play sports at the same time     But I also know that I won’t be that easy to do so I will have my work cut out for me but I’m ready for the challenge .

I am very easy to work with . I’m not difficult and  I have a great attitude . Not saying that I never have any input in what I will be doing but I’ve have never had any problems with getting along with anyone . I am very hard-working and I take training very serious.
