My name is Emma Mills, I am a 5'4" mid-distance track and cross-country runner from Yucca Valley, California and will graduate in the 2020 class. I have run on the Yucca Valley High School Varsity Track and Cross-Country Team for three years and earned multiple all-league titles. My personal records are 18:33 in the 3 mile (XC), 5:17 in the mile, 2:22 in the 800m, and 1:02 in the 400m. I have qualified for CIF Southern Section prelims for 7 events over the three years in track, and my Cross-Country team has qualified for CIF Prelims and Finals. I also hold two Yucca Valley High School records in the 4X400m and 4X800m relays. I was also named Athlete of the Year for Track and Cross-Country by The Hi-Desert Star Newspaper. I have a 4.2 Academic weighted GPA and I have maintained a rigorous course load. I am currently ranked in the top 10 of my class.
I am looking for a university that can provide me with the opportunity to work with outstanding coaches so I may perform at a maximum level for the team with which I run. I am interested in a California school that matches my academic interests (Biology) and athletic abilities so I can compete at a higher level. I am determined to complete my bachelors degree in four years to pursue my career in the medical field. Ideally, I would like to make an immediate impact on the team in whatever event I'm needed. I believe my best fit would be at the Division II, Division III, or NAIA level, although I would consider any level.
