Personal Statement
I am Lily Baibak. I am currently a Freshman in high school. I am a runner on the high school varsity track and varsity cross country team. This is my first year running. During cross country season this year at regionals, I finished with a time of 18:24.0, placed 12th overall and I was the 2nd individual qualifier for sectionals. At sectionals I placed 28th overall, with a time of 18:50.43 and the last individual qualifier for STATE! At state I finished with a time of 18:0.8 (my new PR for 3 miles) and finishing 84th overall out of 232 runners. I have also played tennis, basketball, softball, and soccer. I have played soccer since I was 3 years old. This year I fell in love with running. My dad did cross country and that motivated me to do it. I would love to run competitively in college. I would be a great asset to the team. I am highly athletic and motivated. I am a hard worker and a person who encourages the team. I have great self-esteem and I will never give up. I always work hard to keep my GPA as high as possible. I am always open to corrective criticism and I will always lead by example and encourage others. During a race, I determined to do my best. If I know I messed up I will push myself to recover. After every curve/turn, I speed up to pass a few people and slowly go back to my original pace. No matter how much pain I am in towards the end of a race, the last mile I try my best to pass as many people as I can. I finish the race in a full sprint. I have to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.
