Growing up in different countries and on different continents, speaking and hearing different languages and accents has been an integral part of forming who I am today. Playing under the South African sun or tretching through the Nova Scotian snow, one thing has remained constant in my life: I love running!
I have consistently been one of the fastest female athletes in British Columbia in my age division (2004) in 800m and 1200/1500m. I have been Provincial Champion at BC School's completions and club level.
In 2020 there were no competitions, but I successfully ran multiple virtual races alone or with a couple of boys. My results were good:800m @ 2:16, 1500m @4:43; 1600m @5:01.
One of my most heartbreaking moments was when I won the final of the BC Provincials but was disqualified because of a line infringement in the 800m. I was totally gutted, but life is the best teacher, and I had to pick myself up, wipe the tears and continue participating in the sport I love so much.
My high school is small- we are a grade of about 80 students. However, we have a courageous cross country team that compete successfully against the big high schools. Our team of seven finished 2nd and 3rd in 2018 and 2019, respectively, in BC XC Provincials over 4km. My best final placing was 4th. (We do not have a 2020 XC competitive season, but if the borders open, I will be competing in the Washington State spring XC season.)
I hope to complement a team that has a good work ethic, uplifting coaches and dedicated runners.
