My name is Meghan Lemons and I am currently a member of the 2019 class of Blue Valley High School in Stilwell, Kansas (a suburb of Kansas City). I was born in San Antonio, Texas and lived there for 14 years. In Texas I competed in highly competitive sports and truly learned to love competition. Before my freshman year of High School my family moved to Kansas City where we currently live. I played National Club Volleyball, in both Texas and Kansas, for 4 years in which I travelled around the country playing Volleyball. Last spring, however, a Volleyball coach at my school, who is also a track coach, asked me to come out for track to throw for our school. I threw Javelin, Shot Put, and Discuss at the Varsity level for my school and I loved throwing this past season.
Despite the fact that last season was my first season of track, I almost made it to state in Javelin and Shot Put and I made it onto the All-Time Best Throws list for both of those events at my 6A high school. Athletics have been an important part of my life as well as academics. I am a very competitive person and I compete both on the track and in the classroom. School and track are both very important to me and I am now committed to setting new PR's in all three events.
Recently, I have been working with Phil Groves, who has coached more than 40 All-Americans at the collegiate level, to improve my skills in all three events and I have been improving greatly. Throughout this season, I have continued to set new PR’s in all three events! I am now on the All-Time Best Throws list for Discus and I made it to state in both Shot Put and Discus! At state, I placed 11th in Shot Put and 12th in Discus.
