Personal Statement

When I first signed up for Track and Field, I took it with a grain of salt. To be completely honest with you, I only signed up because my dad ran in highschool and no other sport really sounded fun. I started out running 200s my whole modified season refusing to do anything more or less. I made varsity the next season, wanting to be as good as the older girls and I gave it my all, pushing runs and warmup. Pushing the pace more and more everyday, I ended up becoming a 400 runner, 400 hurdler, and occasionally 4x4. All in my freshman year i made my mark with the 400 hurdles ending the season with a 1:12 pr at our State Qualifyer. After the season ended I stopped running until indoor started ... big mistake guys. I came back so out of shape and it really bothered me, I had gained a few pounds and the first two weeks were really bad. After having a long talk with my coach i changed my diet and got back to my groove. I had befriended an amazing runner, Emily Saltsman, and we attacked the season. We worked really hard the whole season getting really frustrated because we would pr 2 seconds every race in the 600, not getting the times we wanted. At one point I had been out for two weeks and came back a little out of shape and I raced the 300 and made a huge comeback feeling better than ever. We ended the season with 1:46 in the 600 at our state qualifier. After that season, I realized that the sky is the limit. You are only as good as you want to be and when you put your mind to it you can achieve so many great things. Anyone can run, but to be a player is another thing, and every season here on out I got into it being a player ready to race, ready to try new things, and ready to win. Most of all ready to be the best that I can possibly be.
