Personal Statement

I'm Alliyah Allen, mostly known as Liyah. I'm 15 years old and first got introduced to track because my mom and brother saw how I really found it interesting and how I was very inspired by it. Starting in 2014, I started summer track and really fell in love with it because I got to experience what I've always watched on television. During summer, I participated in Junior Olympics and traveled very far to compete against other athletes. During middle school I won a lot of races because of the track experience I already had and all the things I have been taught. Now i'm in love with track because I want to follow my dreams and possibly become a pro athlete. I find myself to be different compared to other athletes. Although, i'm very competitive, I'm willing to help my team improve and I care about the other athletes. When I first started track i wasn't very fast as the other girls, but I didn't allow that from stopping me to improve so I can be just as fast or even faster. Now, focusing on the events I feel comfortable with, I've learned that I have gotten faster and breaking freshman records. Even though track is a priority, school is my main/biggest priority. I have been on honor roll and High honor roll since 5th grade and will always make an effort to go above and beyond with my grades, even if that means taking a couple days off of track and focusing just on school, I would do that. I have won many awards, academic wise, such as scholar athlete award, Academic excellence awards and superintendent awards. My expectations is to maintain a 4.0 and always be the top of my class. While I haven't decided what I want to do for college I do have a few places in mind such as; University Of Florida, University Of Southern California, University Of Oregon and University Of Kentucky. My two biggest events in track are the 400 meters and 400 meter hurdles. By the end of my high school career I want to get my time in the 400 to a low 53.
