Hi my name is Beckah Triana, I am a Sophomore at Northport Highschool. I have been running for 10 years ever since I fell in love with this sport when I was exposed to running by my Mother as a toddler. In Elementary School I joined the Northport Youth Running Club. I learned technique and got to experience my first competitive races. All throughout Middle School I participated in the Track and Cross Country Teams they had to offer. My Freshman year of highschool I joined the Varsity Cross Country team and fell in love with this season. Moving from a Middle school team to a Highschool team really taught me hard work. I didn’t realize how important it was to keep your body strong and understand that the body cannot take as much as your heart wants leading me to my first injury. Developing a stress fracture in my shin impacted my life more than I could’ve ever imagined. I had to take many months off to properly recover completely missing my Varsity Winter Track Season. Though it was really hard to get over this injury physically and mentally i’m very happy it did happen. I was taught perseverance and ultimately this has made me such a better runner. I now understand how important it is to physically keep my body healthy and mentally give my all and never leave the track wishing I had done better. I have made many improvements in Cross Country and finally experienced a Winter Track Season. I am now at the start of my Spring Track Season with hopes of many Pr’s and a healthy injury free running career.
Thank you for taking the time to read my statement.
