I ran my first 5k when I was seven years old. Since that race, I have run thousands of miles and participated in countless races. I started competitively running in 6th grade after I joined the middle school cross country team. I immediately grew a passion for the sport and enjoyed competing alongside my teammates. Running has allowed me to push myself every day and develop friendships that will last a lifetime.
I have been running cross country and track for six years. I have competed at the varsity level throughout my high school career. This past junior season, the mileage and intensity of my training have increased. Throughout the summer, I dealt with a knee injury that prevented me from running. I cross-trained all summer to prepare for the upcoming cross country season. I was determined to come back from my injury and PR in the 5k. Upon my return, I was able to break a major time barrier of 20 minutes in the 5k and compete in the Regional and State Championships with my teammates.
The same qualities I exhibit in running carry over to the classroom. My diligence and strong worth ethic allow me to take multiple AP classes and maintain a high GPA. I put 100% into every assignment, project, and test. I take extreme pride in my grades and am an honor roll student.
I am always looking to better myself in all aspects of school and sports. I am a coachable athlete and am consistently trying to improve my performance. I am excited to continue pursuing my passion for running at the collegiate level.
