Personal Statement
I started throwing shot put and discus in 7th grade and fell in love with the sport, there are constantly things to learn, new techniques, and little ways to perfect your form. As a team captain, I have learned that positive energy brings positive outcomes, so going in to the college search with a positive attitude I am excited to see what can happen for me. My volleyball and basketball career have also taught me that teammates and friendly competition makes you a better athlete. With that being said, I am excited to improve my throwing, gain more experience, compete with other athletes, and grow as an overall player as I extend my career to the college level.
My school has never had a throws coach, so over the years I have participated in indoor track, attended clinics and have practiced with other schools to gain some more experience and bring back drills for my other throwers. I believe with the help of a throws coach I can improve my technique and throw to the best of my abilities. As of my junior year, I hold both the shot put and discus record for my school. Going on to senior year I plan to continuously break those records and set them as high as possible.
I am looking to attend a college where I can advance my academic and track career. I plan on majoring in Education, after I graduate college, my goal is to be a teacher and a throws coach.
