I have been running competitively since I was 12 years old and knew from the start that running is what I wanted to do.
I am currently a 16 year old, African- American junior at a prestigious private school in Wakefied, Rhode Island named after its founder (Elizabeth Prout) The Prout school. I am in all of the the most rigorous classes called International Baccalaureate.
In addition to running, I play a variety of sports that include: Volleyball and Basketball (for my high school), Tennis, Basketball, Swimming, Gymnastics, and lacrosse.
To me, running requires hardwork, commitment and dedication all of which I strive on everyday.
I love to run, at this point, it has become a part of my life.
I also have a running record at my middle school, another prestigious private school, that has not been beaten yet. The record was for sprinting, and I made that record seven years ago.
I am very committed to and very serious about running.
Academically, I have been a straight A student for as long as I can remember. I am currently taking the most demanding classes in the United States.
I am different from other candidates because I am determined, willing to listen to advice from my peers, teachers and coaches, and when I know there is something I can improve I never stop until I have improved and gone beyond what most people expect of me.
Running is not a game, its not just a sport, its not a way for people just to lose weight, its a lifestyle.
A lifestyle I truly enjoy.
When it comes to track for me,
"Success isn't given, it's earned. On the track, on the field, in the gym. With blood, sweat, and the occasional tear."
Thank you.
