From a young age I knew that sports was something I loved. I spent tons of hours training and looking forward to games. Last November (2023) I suffered an injury during a basketball practice, because of that injury I tore my peroneus brevis tendon in my ankle as well as partly tore 3 ligaments. I thought everything sports related was over. I worked extremely hard in physical therapy and ended up being able to be fully cleared in May of 2024. My goal as a high school athlete is to be better than I was before the injury. As far as my collegiate goals I want to change the sport of shot and disc. I believe there aren't enough females that participate in such a wonderful sport. Another goal of mine is to put on a lot of muscle and continue to grow mentally and physically. There are many challenges I have faced throughout my life, but nothing like watching everyone else play the sport I love. When I got hurt I wasn't sure how to be a part of the sport while being in the gym and on the field, but later on I soon figured it out. I learned so much more from watching my teammates and growing with them from the bench than I ever would have on the court or field. I learned how to be a strong leader, read certain situations, be a positive motivator for my fellow teammates, and most importantly I learned the mental mindset of sports. Some might believe this and some might not but in my opinion sports are 75% mental and 25% physical. Being injured gave me the opportunity to learn more about the sports I love and changed me to be a stronger individual.
A little fun fact about me is that I have been driving dirt race cars since I was 5 years old. This is something that I love sharing and something that I believe has shaped me into the person I am today. I would throw at a track meet at 5pm and be at the shop to work on race cars at 7pm. This taught me great time management skills because with everything else going on in my life I was always racing on Saturday with my family. I truly believe in a right of passage and that hard work is what will get you there. There are many different puzzle pieces to my life and this is only one. Thank you.
