Hi! My name is Amanda Grace Battiest; I am 5' 8'' and a Senior at Springfield High School, Springfield VT. I'm currently first in the state of Vermont for Indoor shot put, second year running. My high school freshmen year I placed sixth in the state over all for outdoor shot, and second in my division. During my Sophomore year I placed first in indoor shot put, first in outdoor shot put in my division and third for outdoor discus in my division and ended fourth in the state of Vermont for shot put and sixth for discus. My junior year was one of my best because I was coming off an injury from varsity basketball. I won indoor states for the second time in a row. I placed fourth in the state of Vermont for shot put with a personal record of 34' 4.5'', I ended third in my division for shot put, first for discus with a personal record of 100'9'' and fourth for javelin. I have many non-athletic interests including being an active member of my community as Co-President of the Springfield Prevention Coalition, and a leading member in my schools Climate Committee working to improve the climate at Springfield High school. I also enjoy reading and writing poetry. My poetry has been published twice in national anthems.
I can offer an athletic team, skills of leadership, commitment, and loyalty. Without being a captain my teammates look to me for guidance, support, and enthusiasm. When I decide to do something I give my all, 110% every time. My loyalty always lies with my teammates, and my coaches no matter the sport.
These three skills can be utilized anywhere across the nation which is why I am open to going to any school which offers mortuary science as a major. I enjoy learning and educating myself and I would be an outstanding member of any college community.
