In the 5th grade I began playing volleyball because it was a new experience where I could hang-out with friends but now as a teenager it has become more than fun. Playing volleyball helps me escape from all of my stressors and calm my life. It's amazing how a competitive sport such as volleyball could be such a big part of me as a person. I would love to keep playing this sport because overtime it has slowly helped me be myself and have some sort of balance in life. It has helped me gain confidence in myself, trust those around me, and it has helped me find my own voice.
Just as any other athletic prospect, I can get service aces, get every serve over the net and even transition to play every other position. However, one thing that I can bring to the table that no other prospect can is my positive attitude. My teammates often tell me that I am too nice because I love to build my teammates up. When they're struggling in a position or the moral is down because the odds are against us, I am there to remind everyone what we can do and who we are. Unlike other players when times get rough I won't get mopey, ignore my team, or just give up, I'd stay in my positive mindset and keep my teammates in there best condition mentally and will persevere throughout the whole game even if my teammates aren't into it.
No matter how good I think I may be at volleyball there's always more I could improve upon. My mom always says to strive for perfection even though it is not always attainable. This means that there is always room for improvement. Personally one goal of mine is to successfully do a top spin serve both on the ground and in the air. I've seen this serve in person and practiced it many times and have gotten closer and closer every time. Other than sports-related goals another goal of mine would be academically. Personally I persevere and strive to be a straight A student, and get into a great university that can foster my educational goals and help with my personal development to be an asset to society. I am only 14 years old so I have not 100% committed myself to a college major. However, two career interest I have are in architecture and creative writing. Attending a four year educational institute that has these two majors and a great volleyball program would be essential to my colleges decision.
