Since my first year in seventh grade, I started at the bottom with very little volleyball experience - and yet through hard work and determination I began to find my stride. During my 9th grade season, which was a season of uncertainties with COVID, my team not only won conference, losing only two games, but I was selected for all conference. I am no stranger to uncertainties; I take great pride in my progress and obstacles I have overcome from racial adversities in my area, to issues within the home. Through the help of this game, and my determination I have found a way to channel every negative thing and turn it into something positive. I have been determined to push myself out of my comfort zone to build to my potential - I do this because of my love of being on that court. The volleyball court isn't just an area where I can play, it is an area where I can free my mind and leave everything I have on the floor. Even throughout my athletic pursuits and accomplishments, I still see my academics as a fundamental importance, because I firmly believe anything worth doing is worth giving your all for - which is why I choose to take AP classes, and maintain a 4.0. I believe I could be a valued addition to any team, as I will never be satisfied in the pursuits of my potential. I hope to encourage and build up others around me to reach their aspirations, and prove to others that there's no excuse to not succeed in something based on the cards dealt in one's life.
