In volleyball, I see a sport that embodies versatile skills that bring excitement with the pace and strategy in which skills are executed. Yet, the fusion of my work ethic and my beloved teammates' shared goals is what keeps bringing me back to the court. The extra individual sessions and repetitions I take to harness my reactions and responsiveness to the ball can only be done with the connection to what my team needs to be successful. Having the experience of playing in regional and national settings with my club travel team has allowed me to push my physical and mental mindset, instilling in me the drive to adapt and adjust to move forward consistently, no matter the game's tempo. These skills will transcend to my next level of play, both on and off the court.
I remain a dedicated East County Volleyball Academy (ECVBA) member. Here, I have enhanced my skills as a Libero and Defensive Specialist. In combination with my club training, I have also completed several college-level specialty camps at UCSD and Oregon State University while attending competitive clubs in the local areas, such as Coast Volleyball. High School athletics also contributes to my experience, as I have held a varsity position for the last two seasons. This year's highlight was receiving my conference's 'Libero of the Year' award following our CIF matches.
My athletic skill sets also include attributes in leadership, strong communication, a team-based mindset, and an intrinsic drive to harness position-based athletic requirements through individual and weight training programs. My commitment to volleyball has increased my appreciation for this rewarding and fulfilling sport. The connections I make and the skills I develop keep me wanting to play this sport beyond high school. For that reason, I want to find a program out there that I may contribute to and whom I may learn from that will keep my love of the game paired with my drive for academic success. My dedication to technique and footwork for advanced mobility on the court will be an asset to any competitive volleyball program.
Thank you for reading my biography. I look forward to discussing future opportunities!
Sincerely,
Leila Reynante, Class of 2025
