Personal Statement
My name is Keila Marie Solis and I have played volleyball for three years. I go to Rodriguez High School, class of 2022. I am an outside hitter and DS. I would love to continue to play volleyball beyond high school and into the college level. Before volleyball, I was a competitive gymnast. However, as soon as I found volleyball, I fell in love with the sport. As a freshman I was a starter on my school's JV team, then moved up to varsity my sophomore year. I have also played for Club Solano Volleyball for the past three club seasons, building skills, and creating a family. Volleyball has allowed me to grow and become a harder worker both on and off the court. I am coachable, which has made me a more versatile player. I may not be the tallest recruit, but I make it up with heart. This has made me study the game harder, and become a more strategic player. I work harder on the court, and especially work harder to prove to myself and any doubters that I belong on the volleyball court.
Family is also a big part of my volleyball and sports life. I am starting my 4th club season with the same organization. While we are a smaller club, we are a family, and I can say that I have created a family with each team, and an ever bigger extended volleyball family within the whole organization. I have three brothers, who all play sports, and I have had the opportunity to volunteer for their organizations too. We have been fortunate to support each other at our events, and create more team families along the way. My experiences growing up around sports have guided my plans to pursue sports medicine and healthcare in the future.
